With more than 1200 institutes offering more than 22,000 courses, there is a diverse range of Student Visa For Australia for both International as well as Domestic students. The Education system is broadly divided into different areas:
THE AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT DESIGNED THE AUSTRALIAN QUALIFICATIONS FRAMEWORK (AQF)
which allows student to easily move through the education system here and provides an easy way for other countries around the world to recognise your qualification.
International students who complete a qualification within the AQF understand the entry requirements for higher qualifications and can progress from undergraduate to postgraduate study.
Australian Education system provides primary, secondary and tertiary qualifications.
AUSTRALIAN SCHOOL EDUCATION (PRIMARY AND SECONDARY)
Pre School
Its Duration is 1 year. Typical age of students here is 3 to 4 years. It is not compulsory.
Preparatory Year
Its Duration is 1 year. Typical age of students here is 4 to 6 years. It’s not compulsory in some states
Primary School
Its duration is 6-7 years. Typical age of students here is 5 to 12 years. This level is compulsory for all students.
Secondary School
Its duration is 5-6 years. Typical age of students here is 12- 18 years. Depending on their interests, students have many course options available here.
TERTIARY EDUCATION
It includes both higher education (including universities) as well as vocational education and training (VET)
VET courses prepare people for work in a career that does not need a university degree. Typically VET courses take around 2 years of study. There are 39 Australian Universities which typically offer courses that may take 3 to 4 years of study.
PATHWAY FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
English Language Course (ELICOS)
It enables students to enter other education sectors at all levels. It’s a non-award programme with over 300 accredited centres across Australia.
Foundation Programs
Most commonly uses as a pathway for students to meet the entry requirements of an undergraduate Bachelor degree. It’s a route to undergraduate and VET courses. It focuses on English Language development and contains academic based subjects. Typically these are Cert IV courses.
Diploma Programs
These courses can serve as a route to undergraduate courses for students who otherwise not meet the requirements of the undergraduate program. Typically upon completion of the Diploma, student will gain entry into the second year of an undergraduate course.
